Who are we?

We are a network of professional service dog trainer from all over the United States dedicated to providing support and training to owner handlers.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to provide support to all individuals who are training their own service dogs. Anyone with a disability has the right to train their own service dog. We believe owner trained service dogs can be as highly trained and as effective as any dog trained by an organization or professional trainer. We strive to offer affordable quality help to all owner trainers.

Vision

We noticed a need within the owner trained service dog community for affordable help from qualified service dog trainers. It can be hard for individuals to find a professional dog trainers qualified to train service dogs. Most service dog trainers only work within their organizations or require long term training contracts. To address this need, we have gathered a network of trainers that are both willing and well qualified to help owner trainers at affordable prices. Additionally we understand that there are many methods and philosophies of dog training. Both owners and trainers tend to have strong beliefs and preferences around training methods. We are an all inclusive community and will match owners with trainers that align with their preferred training methods.

About the Trainers

All of our trainers are highly qualified professionals. Our trainers are required to have certification through one of our approved dog training schools and at least 5 years experience of service dog training. Additionally our trainers have trained between 50-100+ placed service dogs each.

Our Founder

Dawna is a certified professional dog trainer with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and has been training dogs for over 30 years. She has personally trained and placed over 200 service dogs and she has helped countless owners train their own dogs. In addition to service dogs, Dawna has also trained and rehabilitated dogs with behavioral problems for owners and animal rescues across the U.S. She also has trained dogs in tracking/trailing, competitive obedience, agility, rally, and dock diving. She founded The Service Dog Support Network to bring quality affordable training to handlers nationwide.
